The river basins form the uppermost aggregation level for the "Topographical catchment areas of Swiss waterbodies" geodata set. The large areas with a surface area of usually more than 1000km² are drained by large watercourses: the Rhine, Aar, Reuss, Limmat, Thur, Rhône, Ticino, Inn, Adda and Adige.
