Magnetic Field Exposure from Electrical Installations (modeled)

Datasets

The map shows the modeled exposure to magnetic field emissions from electrical installations in Switzerland. It depicts the magnetic flux density in microtesla (μT) at a height of 1 m above ground level. The calculation is based on a physical model from the Federal Office for the Environment (FOEN) and utilizes, among other things, the Federal Office of Energy’s (SFOE) geodata model for electrical installations > 36 kV. Currently, overhead lines with voltages of 150, 220, and 380 kV are taken into account within a 400-meter-wide corridor along the lines (total length approx. 6,800 km). The data model is based in part on simplifying assumptions and represents an initial development stage. Updates to refine the underlying data and extend the model to additional voltage levels are foreseen. The data is not legally binding.
