This dataset contains idealized sensitivity simulations performed with the SNOWPACK model to investigate how the timing of summer heat affects ground thermal conditions in alpine permafrost. The simulations demonstrate that late-summer heatwaves lead to greater heat retention in the ground until the following spring than equally warm early-summer events. The dataset supports analyses of the influence of atmospheric heat timing on active-layer heat storage and permafrost thermal evolution.
